I just seen it too (and flipped out because I figured Steam was screwing up at first and just draining my internet speed for nothing, it's happened before lol) and Googled it a bit then checked my downloading folder for Steam and found out it's an update for the Bethesda high res pack. I posted about it in the thread about low res DB textures, since I assume these must be high res textures for it.

Does this mean these Mods wont be necessary nomore.

It seems to have a HighResTexturePack3.esp... High Res Dragonborn/Dawnguard Textures maybe? With fixes for the first two?

SNIP

I'm thinking they may have fixed the originals as well, but they're also very different sizes when compared to the originals

1.87GB for Pack 1 V1 ---vs--- 1.52GB for Pack 1 V2

1.17GB for Pack 2 V1 ---vs--- 1.74GB for Pack 2 V2

TOTAL: 3.05GB for V1 ---vs--- 3.27GB for V2

Quite an increase, but I'm keeping the originals backed up just in case they missed something in these new fixed(?) packs. You never know, since there were those few mistakes in the original. Probably less likely, but if DG got an update too that'd be cool.

EDIT: It is DG too, and HF! Along with DB of course, here: Link

You do know that if you use the SKSE loader you can play Skyrim without getting the download?

@AxlRocks: Good catch man. Pretty awesome of Bethesda to pop out HighRes texture a day after Dragonborn's release.

Really, so i can Continue my Game while the Update is Downloading, since i have SKSE :D

You should but you might want to disable the High Res Texture pack if you have on since this will probably override the one you got.

I'm seeing HiResTexturePacks changing from 2 to 3 as well. A 1.5 GB download without warning ? That's three days of my Internet quota gone phht. :facepalm: I wish they had announced it in advance, so I could have made suitable arrangements (like - turn off updating). Oh well, maybe it will improve the look of the game marginally. If my hardware can handle it. If not, I have backups of the old versions.

I don't think it's related to DawnGuard or any of the other DLC's - I don't have them, just vanilla Skyrim.

@OldMansBeard

Use the SKSE loader and you can play even with the update downloading. Just don't have the High Res Texture packs on.

"In a continued effort to support our PC fanbase, we’ve released a Steam update to Skyrim’s (free) HD Texture Pack. In addition to high resolution textures in the main game, the update adds improved textures for Dawnguard, Hearthfire, and the newly-released Dragonborn."
