What about compressing the BSA? maxarturo is concerned about bsa file size but he's talking about uncompressed bsa. Is there a reason not to compress it? maxarturo Posted September 7, 2020 Author Share Posted September 7, 2020 @ NexBeth If your BSA contains WAVs (as sound FXs), and the wavs must not be compressed to beggin with, then the BSA should be uncompressed, it's certain that it will cause CTDs, random and on cell attach / load of the cell. SLE and SSE engine is very sensitive when it comes to handle WAV files, the wav must have certain parameters / properties and it must not be compressed + not exceed a certain 'length limit'. I will soon upload a large mod that I have compressed the BSA. I won't interrupt your topic anymore with this though, but will post up some question in the SSE forum to get some more insights into this issue. Thanks, maxarturo. NexusComa2 Posted September 8, 2020 Share Posted September 8, 2020 (edited) This is the way I understood it. At 1st there was a limit. I believe it was around 1gb. At some point they just removed the limit with no other change than that. So you could create a 2.5gb mod. Problem is at that point it would just crash the game on loading. So it would seem mod size and game performance would be somewhat linked. That would be something to keep in mind ... possibly find a sweet spot.
