[WIPz] Vault 13 & Vault 15

I created the WIP thread on the Bethesda's forums and thought I would create it also here.

Consider this mod to be a modder's ressource for anyone willing to undertake a Fallout 1 TC.

To get the hang of Bethesda's newest CS, I decided to rebuild Vault 13 and Vault 15, both vaults that were included in Fallout 1.

I am not going to make the whole of Fallout 1. Only Vault 13 and Vault 15.

Both vaults will be built exactly like in Fallout 1. Same computers at the same places. Same NPCs. Same assets. I've taken the freedom of adding more furniture to some rooms as I thought Fallout 1's vaults lacked in that department.

Since I'm basicly trying many features of the CS, NPCs will have schedules, some computers will be able to be hacked, you will be able to get healed at the Clinic and some NPCs will have dialogue. There will be two "quests" for you. Both were included in Fallout 1 : 1. Find the water thief. & 2.Putting an end to a possible mutiny.

Vault 13 contains the following rooms :

- Clinic

- 6 Living Quarters

- Library (Computers)

- Storage Room

- Cafeteria

- Armory

- Computer Room

- Overseer's Room

- Main Entrance

Vault 13 is populated with 43 NPCs. Around 11 of them are unique and have their own dialogue tree. The rest are generic Vault Dwellers. Amongst the unique NPCs you can also find Max Stone, Natalia and Albert, the three pre-made characters available in Fallout 1.

For those of you who have played Fallout 1, the Overseer will not be seated in his cool mechanized chair equipped with machine guns. That asset is not possible to make.

Speaking of missing assets, there will be no Vault 15 Jumpsuits and Vault 15 doors unless someone is willing to retexture them for me.

Vault 15 is built almost exactly like Vault 13. It's the same design and only the second floor is changed. Vault 15 has been abandoned by its occupants who left the safety of their Vault to wander in the wasteland. One group, led by Aradesh founded the village of Shady Sands while others formed raider groups. Therefore, the Vault has been looted but some items are still inside. The Vault has been left in an almost perfect state, except for the rust. Since the Vault is built under the ground, as opposed to Vault 13 being built in a mountain, rocks have penetrated the structures on the second and third floor, blocking access to some areas.

With all that being said, onward to the Work in Progress screenshots!

I really like your updated look to the old Vault 13. I was just wondering, what do you intend to do with all this once your done? Are you going to add it the the existing FO3 as new areas to explore/exploit? Is it a just an excercise in using the GECK? Or do you have some other plans? Just wondering.

damn you beat me to it! lol

I had already started and half finished the vault but you look like youve already done it lol.

I like your layout, very very cool stuff :) I was trying to figure out what pieces to use to make the top floor clinic area look right, but you already pretty much did it :)

Nice work, maybe if i finish mine you can use it somehow if you wish as a variation of yours :) /grovel

nice!

Thanks!

It's both a way to get myself used to many of the GECK's features (Quests, World Building, dialogue, schedules, etc.) and also a way to provide a ressource to any modders with the intention of rebuilding Fallout 1. There will be a modder's ressource ESP file (Just the world design and the furnitures) and a playable version that adds Vault 13 and Vault 15 to the Fallout 3's world. Vault 13 will have NPCs with their schedules along with two quests that were in Fallout 1 (Not the Waterchip quest). Vault 15 will have items to scavenge, hackable computers to know the story behind Vault 15 and it will be populated with mole rats and rad roaches.

Thanks! Yes I'm sure we are not the only ones who thought of remaking Vault 13! :P

But by all means, do not let my own vault stop the progress on yours. More variation for the players is better. :)

This looks wonderful! Can't wait to see the classic Vaults. Always enjoyed your Oblivion mods, glad to see you doing new stuff for FO3.

With the implementation of the GTS you could actually redo pretty much the whole game given the right amount of work and time :D
