Deleted2589418User
Hi, first of all sorry about my english. I have no freezes at all, played the whole dragonborn questline without any issues, then i returned to skyrim for some unfinished business. Now I can't go back to Solstheim.. it crashes 100% of the times when I try to fast travel or get the boat. I used the console to go where Neloth is, I left the building and started walking and fast traveling around Solstheim.. no problems so far, but if I try to enter Raven Rock it crashes 10/10 times(actually i can't even go near Raven Rock without a CTD) I never changed the uGrids, and didn't installed any mods since I played the dlc.. but since i had a huge mod list I tried disabling one by one and with older saves but the problem persists. Anyway this is not random for me.. the problem IS Raven Rock and it seems not to be mod/save related. I'll try to start a new game but I doubt it will help, I would appreciate any suggestions
neobius
Well, I think I can exclude mods as a cause of this problem. I crash all the time in Solstheim, 80% of the times to desktop, 20% of the time I get a freeze (game stops responding). I have NO MODS installed since I started playing Skyrim. Please stop blaming mods. I had initially my uGrids set to 9 with zero problems in Skyrim. The problem started after I downloaded Dragonborn. It also caused crashes in the Skyrim mainland. After changing the uGrids set back to 5 and carefully using the refreshini command and saving again, it does not work. The game still crashes. F... console emulated games. I am tired of this. I can barely walk in Soltsheim without a crash or freeze. Breaks my immersion completely. I hope it helps. Edited June 25, 2013 by neobius
Thali0n
I was experiencing freezes and CTD's a lot since i bougth the Dragonborn DLC a few days ago. Well, i had some before, but i could play more than a hour or even hours before stuttering oder freezing. I think those CTD's have definately something to do with the ammount of data, which has to be shown. Lowering the object count, textures sizes, etc. was successfully too before Dragonborn for me - and i'm running a quite potent PC with a factory overclocked 670. Well, i just reinstalled the mod Lush Grass wihtout the tree option (which i had active before) and i got rid of the CTD's as far as i can confirm, because i still get some freezes quite regular, but not as often as the CTD's. I'll keep on experimenting which mod might cause those. Regards
Pantarou
It's very annoying. I can't travel outside without Freezes / CTD's in Solstheim. Dungeons and other Interiors are no Problem.

Do you have many mods installed, which are increasind polygons or texture sizes a lot? Like i said before, the CTD were eliminated for me just be deactivating the Tree option from Lush Grass, which i believe places more trees - i'm not quite sure about this. I also can confirm that deactivating the UFO (ultimate follower overhaul) mod also reduced freezes for me.
cesarz01
I have a pretty heavily modded (156 mods, now that is) skyrim and figured out how to get dragonborn problems to stop. Firstly I removed all mods that altered interior shadows or picked the versions of them that left vanilla interiors untouched. This helped with the infamous raven rock mine problems (black screen infinite load, crash on enter etc). This helped me get into the mine but I would still crash often and often be unable to load saves from inside the mine. Even though I have the latest version of skse and it says you don't need safety load with it, I went ahead and added safety load and this gave me a 50/50 chance of loading saves in the mine. But with all that said, the big thing that seemed to fix all my problems in the dragonborn dlc was to dismiss Lydia my modded follower. I use Bjirn's Warmadien mod which is a great mod that makes some favorite female follower look truly realistic and equisitely feminine. I'm not sure if it was the fact that she was modded or not, but I also have some other mods that change follower behavior and control options and though it is not necessary to remove any of these, I highly suggest that you tackle dragonborn solo and dismiss any followers. This helped me not only with specific area crashes but also with ravenrock mine crashes and crashes/freezes in solstheim exteriors. Also, make sure if you have mods like climates of tamriel and flora overhaul that you grab the dragonborn patches. Though generally, it would seem you'd simply lose these features in solstheim I noticed I couldn't even get to solstheim until I patched these types of mod. Another thing I did was remove enhanced lights and fx and all it's patches. I like this mod very much, but the fact that it alters interior seemed to be a disaster for raven rock mine in particular. Hope this helps, though I know that by the the very nature of TES V and the large numbers of mods out there and system set-ups there's never going to be one single fix for everyone. To trouleshoot, try following this procedure. The first things I would try is to dismiss any followers you may have from Skyrim before even trying to get passage to Solstheim. If your already borught a follower into a glitchy solstheim dismissing them then and there should also resolve the issues related to followers. Just dismiss them and wait for them to amble off out of sight and you should be good to go on this end. If that doesn't solve problems on its own make sure to patch climates of tamriel and flora overhaul and the like with draognborn patches. If your trying to keep enhanced lights and fx grab its dragonborn patch as well. Still having problems, make sure you have the latest skse and that the memory patch from sheson is active. Check for skse.ini inside skyrim/data/skse. Look for these lines (if you have additonal information it might be related to another skse plugin, I don't think you need to worrry about it but make sure you have these lines). DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768ScrapHeapSizeMB=256[General]ClearInvalidRegistrations=1 Then you might also try putting in safety load as well, even though it says you don't need it with the latest skse, it made a difference for me. Then if you still have problems, as a last resort, dump enhanced lights and fx and all its patches. Good, luck.
Ouroborus78
Um... my skyrim.ini doesn't have the line uGridsToLoad at all. Should I add this line in General?
Project579
No if there is no line it uses the Default of 5.
