the fallout series not including three

You should get both :D since they offer great experience... but I must warn you if you do not like isometric camera or dated graphics, you will not enjoy them since it has been 10 years :) but if you like good story, dark humor (Tragic the Gathering :D) and tough battles, you will love them... I love them, many of the people here like them... :)

I'd start from the first and move on the second. Myself I think the second is better. It's a little longer and New Reno, is probably the best video game atmosphere. Also check out Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel. The turnbased squad game. Not everyone likes it, but it takes the combat of Fallout and makes a whole game of it. Definitely worth taking a look at,

Fallout: BoS is a steaming pile o' crap.

Worse.

I doubt a fly would even be bothered to land on it...
