Either side could have indulged in a Doomsday scenario as well. If you're losing, or think you might be eliminated, then take everyone with you. It won't soften the blow, but it ensures no one else will have an advantage when the rebuilding begins.

Ironically in the Fallout universe, the USSR became best friends with the U.S.

So, wait, why did the U.S care about oil, if they had wide scale fusion? I mean, I understand getting freaked out about Alaska, but why the rush for the Poseidon lode?

FFS.

They didn't have wide scale fusion tech, portable micro fusion technology was an offshot of the Power Armour research programme in 2066. And oil is used in thousands of other, derivative substances, just look up how many everyday items are made from petroleum.

And Europe could have just imported a car from the US and reverse engineer it's batteries, same with micro fusion cells. It's all kind of a moot point, since it's quite probably a ravaged war zone, given the dissolution of the Commonwealth in 2060 and nations jumping to each others' throats.

I guess it might have had something to do with fact that China annexed part of Siberia to reach the rich oil fields in north. But yes it was ironic, but then again maybe russians wanted in with winner when they saw China wasn't going pull through. But this is just speculation.

The world was almost wiped clean of live, the ocean's cooked when the bombs fell...

Some survived hiding in bunkers, faults etc..

So there is your answer...there are probably survivors but since being bombed back into the stoneage there is no way to communicate with them or travel there..

I doubt they're doing much better than the U.S. because if they were fine don't you think they would have came to see what was happening to the America after 200 years?
