Hello,

there's a problem that came up with the game i never experienced before; (i have the Ultimate Edition);

I haven't played in a while, but had the game still installed. When i tried to start a new origin, i got stuck however: All of a sudden, interaction with NPCs is impossible. I can still interact with objects (looting, getting codex entries, etc.) I am however unable to initiate any kind of dialogue - which, of course, completely breaks the game for i cannot finish any quests or start new ones.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, yet the problem remains;

i've installed the patches from the bioware site, but no mods. This Problem is not only in Dragon Age Origins, but in all of the DLC i tried as well (Awakening, Witch Hunt, Golems of Amgarrak, Leliana's Song)

i do not know what to do; can some software update (like the nvidia driver) interfere with the game like that?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks, thinfeniel

I might have suggested checking/updating your Mouse Driver, but I'm not sure 'cause you can interact with other objects.

Maybe uninstall the game completely, delete all related folders, then install to a different location/path (eg install to D:\Games rather than C:\Program Files) and play a vanilla (ie no custom mods installed at all) game first...?

Otherwise...I'd suggest heading off to the EA boards and asking them.:confused:

  • 2 weeks later...

thank you for your quick answers; uninstalling and reinstalling (even under a different direction) sadly didn't work; still trying to fix it.

EDIT:

it's working again; somehow fiddling with my drivers for Nvidia and Nvidia PhysX seems to have done the trick.
