Shadow Flickering Effect

I'd just reinstalled Skyrim and I got the mods all working--at least I hope. Yet I start a new game and in the past it only suffered shadow stripping in some areas but now the shadows are fine except they're constantly flicking on and off, which is especially worse when looking at buildings. I have tried deactivating a couple lighting and texture mods I have but the shadows are still flickering so my only wonder at this point is if it's something about the new texture patch that came since Dragonborn's release? I don't know.

EDIT: I played further into my game and found that the shadow "flickering" is only happening whenever I move in first person. When I stand completely still, the shadows stay still. When I move or look around then the shadows flicker on and off. I have yet to test what happens while in third person. However I noticed I must have more than just shadow glitches happening because when I passed through some hanging rabbits and pheasants then backed up again to see them, both suddenly turned invisible despite that I could still gather from both.

And another glitch I ran into was that the sky is having issues. There's a black line streaking across the sky like a clipping issue and then I managed to get a screenshot of this giant black tringle cut in the sky. So again, I don't know if this is something because of the mods I have. A recent Skyrim patch. Or my overall graphics.

Help please?

If you have an AMD card then its a driver issue. You can roll back to a 12.8 driver or the new 13.1 ones work. If you have a NVIDIA it could also be a driver issue.

I have NVIDIA GTX 260M

And I just tried seeing if turning on the FXAA would help but I guess it did nothing either. Anyway, I have two mods under Overhaul in the NMM: Project Reality - Climates of Tamriel and Realistic Lighting Overhaul. Then under patches is: Unofficial Skyrim Patch and Unofficial High Resolution Patch. I do not have any of the DLCs for the PC and I'd like to know if any of these mods could be causing my graphic glitches to the background?

This is their load order

Climates of Tamriel - main

Unofficial Skyrim Patch

Unofficial High Resolution Patch

Climates of Tamriel - 3 effects

Realistic Lighting - main plus effects

You got a 260M,so running high graphics could be an issue. It's probaly not able to keep up and causing the glitches. You are putting a strain on the card,so it may be part the issue.

Does it do it without any mods installed on high graphics?Does turning the settings to mid help?

Try with a Skyrim_prefs,with no tweaking and see if it helps. Some shadow fixes may be the cause of the sky,not sure though.

Your load order is odd, prob shoujld be:

Unofficial High Resolution Patch

Unofficial Skyrim Patch

Climates of Tamriel - main

Climates of Tamriel - 3 effects

Realistic Lighting - main plus effects

Well the instructions for High resolution was that it needs to be under the Skyrim patch so idk. And my card actually auto picked high quality settings for my game and everything is running smoothly except for those glitches. So I'm kind of nervous to be messing with too many things again cause I never had the game run nearly this smooth before.

Plus even if I wanted to, I can't move some of the mods from their load order cause for some reason once it hits a certain place in the list I can't move them up or down.

EDIT: Okay I fixed the sky glitches messing around with my AA but now I still have the flickering problem with the shadows against objects/buildings. Soooo if anyone can help then yes please. If not then... Guess I'll just either have to ignore it or find some mods to just shut the shadows off.

Atleast it's better for you.Did you have shadow issues before using any mods? Are you using the unofficial patches for the DLCs you got installed? There's 4 unofficial ones...Skyrim,Hearthfire,Dawnguard,and Dragonborn. You'll need each of the ones for what is installed.Shadows are the biggest issues for ppl. There is a no shadows esp someone made, but it takes away from the game a lot.Noone has a way to fix all the shadow probs, jsut most of em.As long as it's in only a few places should count yourself luckier than some. :)

I'm aware there's a unofficial patch for each DLC, but do I still require them even though I don't have any of the DLCs installed? And I'm not sure if there was shadow issues before the mods were installed because I installed them right away.

EDIT: Please someone? I got a picture of what the shadows are doing at least while inside.

Pay more attention to the shadow behind the guard. I've sat here for hours messing with my settings, trying to uninstall and reinstall some mods. Nothing is working and I don't know what to do short of giving up.

You don't need the patches if they not installed, you said something about dragonborn, thought you got it after.Looks like an LOD issue, there's tweaks to help, but might cause lower FPS.I get it in some places even with tweaks,so I don't think all issues can be fixed.I'll try to find that area and see if I get that issue, since I only use body mods.

Well if it's less frequent or more focused outside then I'll deal with it.

EDIT: I just deactivated both a torch and the Realistic Lighting mod I had. I seem to have fixed the shadows on characters but I'm still overall having a problem with the shadows on objects whenever my character moves. The shadows still flicker and right now my character is inside the Arl's place in Whiterun. I can't get an exact screenshot because it only happens when my character moves and I have no means of recording. But facing the front entrance, the shadows jump and flicker against the ground like the lighting is casting a shadow downward from the pillars/arch. Then when I hold still again the shadows are normal.

Sorry if I'm not making sense here but I'm trying to give as much description as possible to figure out what's happening here. The only other way I can put it is that the shadows can't seem to figure out how to work with the light source unless I'm standing still.
