EditMy particular issue seems to have been that using NMM with FOMOD ready installs breaks the game. Of course pursueing a number of fixes after that broke it even more. Since I've totally removed all mods, uninstalled and then reinstalled the game with DLC plus the patch it is now playing again. Yes it's a Win 7 operating system.
