AdmiralEcho
Recently Skyrim has become completely unplayable on my first character. After I installed Dragonborn and the new Official DLC I got these intense lag spikes which evolved into periods of freezing. After freezing about twice it crashes. I have disabled and uninstalled all mods and and the freezing persists. The save file is becoming increasingly bloated, and is currently at 54.3 MB. It rises by .5 to 1.5 MB each time I play. I have tried making clean saves and purging cell buffers but to no avail. So I tried a new character using 'coc riverwood' from the start screen and the game ran perfectly w/ no freezing. So I have come to the conclusion that sometime in the past I installed a mod that corrupted my save file, and that Dragonborn doesn't agree with the file. I have checked my LOG files (Which are all 350+ MB) and have not been able to make heads or tails of it. It mentions "CritterDragonFly.psc", "CWAttackCityScript.psc", "TrapDweThresher.psc", and "FestivalEndScript.psc" a lot. There are also a bunch of scripts mentioned that are from Dawnguard, but those are near the beginning of the log. If anyone has any advice on what to do, it would be greatly appreciated. I would prefer not to lose the 150+ hours I have put into this character, but I am prepared for the worst.

I would prefer not to lose the 150+ hours I have put into this character, but I am prepared for the worst. Same thing happened here last Monday. But it started with the cultists not talking to me. Then they wouldn't drop their orders. Then the boat refused to sail. Then the lag spikes. Now the file gets stuck on the loading screen. In short something broke. I tried to backpedal to an older save and ran into an irritating series of CTDs whenever I open the item/magic menus, container storage screens, barter screens, and sometimes when I hit Escape to open the system menu. >_> Not sure if the crashes from the older save are related, but I can't make any sense of what's going on beyond theories of a misbehaving mod. Now the save file for this character is supposed to be under 15 MB (it is for the older saves) but the two Dragonborn saves that refuse to load (after the above lag spikes/freezes) are over 29 MB.
