borderlands2 BL2 won't load

It's recently came to my attention that Borderlands 2 had came onto Nexus which got me pretty excited and added a few mods, however tried to open it through Vortex and I get an error message stating that it wont load without the Epic Client being open. So I opened up Epic Games and attempted to launch the game again from Vortex and to shorten things, I installed what was needed, Hex Multitool etc, and yet I still get the same message over and over, does anybody know how to fix? Thanks.
