Toolset doesn't find my gamebuild

Since 5 days I am trying to make the toolset cooperate, but it seems to be pretty stubborn.

I get this error message:

The toolset wiki gives here not much of options how to fix it.

When using the GOG Version you need to fix an error in your Registry, you need to go from this:

to this:

At this point it should work but it doesn't.

I reinstalled the toolset and SQL 10+ times over now, the game itself I reinstalled 3 times.

It already worked before, I last used the toolset in december 2019.

I tried many other things already some of them pretty silly, I am just out of ideas.

Everyone with any suggestions is pretty welcome!

That's... frustrating.

It looks to me like you've found and followed the advice here: https://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/5881768-dragon-age-origins-game-install-not-found-toolset-installation/

There's another thread discussing getting the toolset to work for a GOG install here: https://www.gog.com/forum/dragon_age_origins_ultimate_edition/cannot_install_toolset/page1

And of course the installation help in the toolset wiki here: http://www.datoolset.net/wiki/Installation_troubleshooting

More searching might turn up additional resources.

Have you started/run the game since your last install? Booted your PC since you edited the registry?

I checked all 3 links and those were the links I used to try to solve my problem.

I also used :

https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/1284

as a guide to be sure I am doing everything in the right way.

My game runs fine and I restarted my PC everytime when changing the registry or changing anything in my system.

As I said I try to solve this since 5 days, I have found many Forums with suggestions, but none of those helped me solving my problem.

I am an IT specialist for system integrations I normally know my way around PCs and servers. I am just so frustrated at this point that it really might something silly that I didn't consider.

I tried to install and start everything as normal user and as admin.

I don't really know what else to tell you. It probably is, as you say, something silly that you've overlooked. Maybe something that you've looked at many times and just haven't seen the error (something we all do).

I'm sure you've also done a mental review of everything that may have changed on your system since the last time you ran it successfully.

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure the SQL server the toolset uses is running. The error message you're getting is specific - but sometimes they are misleading.

I wish I could be more helpful. Perhaps someone else will come along with the solution. Good luck.

The SQL Server is running, I did a shutdown several times for testing and the toolset gave me each time the Database error as it should.

Other than the Microsoft updates *ugh* nothing on my system was changed.

I have solved my Problem in a sense.

First my Workaround that I used everytime:

Deinstalled everything

-Reinstalled GOG Galaxy launcher

-DL game

-Installed Game

-Repaired game

-Started Game Launcher as Admin and generated a shortcut via the gameconfigsite (was marked in a Forum as solution)

-Ran the game (fully Vanilla) via this shortcut, played about 5 Minutes Vanilla DA:O

- Install toolset and SQL > not possible Gamebuild not found (test if patch is active or not)

> Patch for Registry

- Install toolset and SQL
> default settings
> Error > Folder couldn't be generated for the uninstall
> Folder generated
Install completed
- Starting Toolset
> Unable to connect to Database
> SQL Server configuration Manager
> BWDATOOLSET is running
> SQL Server Management Studio
> Database wasn't created
> created Database
> Failed with: Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 262 > Admin needed
> Added Admin to SQL 2005 (recommended in toolset WIKI) + Restarted SQL Server Management Studio
> created Database
Followed this guide strictly: https://www.nexusmod...onage/mods/1284
- Starting Toolset
> Error: Unable to verify that the program and database versions match
> Log: ERROR, ".\ConnectionData.cpp", 132, "Database version info cannot be located in the database."
> Google: Many reasons > Reinstall ( I couldn't be bothered to figure out which of the many reasons the right one is)
- Uninstall Toolset and reinstall
> Same as above but without the last error
> Same Problem as at the start
I have another PC, Netbook and Notebook on ALL of them I can use the toolset it's perfectly fine.
Why? I don't know!
Case closed!

Are you using Windows 10? My understanding is that 2005 isn't compatible with Windows 10, and that it's better to use a more recent version of MS SQL that IS compatible with the toolset database.

See post #13 in this discussion for more info on version compatibility. This discussion has the best instructions I've found for installing everything.

The only difference that could be the issue is that I use Windows 10 pro on my PC. The other PC is running Windows 10 home just as my net- and Notebook. But I will try it bc a 32" screen on my PC is better than a 17" on my notebook.
