-I know you Eiade. You haven't seen Bowling for Columbine or any other Moore film for the matter. You keep telling off me, yet you do it yourself....

Actually, yes I have. I saw Fahrenheit 9/11 a couple weeks ago and I watched Bowling for Columbine a few months ago.

If he wanted to do a movie about facts, he wouldn't have out it in mainstream movie theaters.

It's only in about two or maybe 3 theatres in the city where I live, out of about 8 theatres or so. And if he wanted a movie about facts intended to inform the public, why wouldn't he want it in mainstream theatres so that everyone can watch it?

-Social commentaries are still not full facts. They are his opinion, though based off facts

A social commentaey uses facts to back up a point, basically. And of course I don't trust the movie %100. Who would? I'm just saying Moore didn't just make this movie for the money, because he has made many other movies like this, and they weren't box office hits. If he wanted to make money, he would've tried something different.

Look, all i'm saying is don't trust the whole movie. I never denied facts in the movie. Yes, bush is an a$$hole. I agree completely. But Moore didn't make a perfect movie.

Actually, most of all you have been saying is that he's making this movie just to make money, which implies that he isn't passionate about his subject (the subject being social commentary), which is incorrect. Who here said that he made a perfect movie?

Everytime someone comes out saying something is wrong in the movie, people defend it. You guys want it to be perfect by defending it. When i brought up the kennedy thing your guys response was "that doesn't really matter"... well i think it does. He has twisted somethings to make his point stronger and that is dangerous for nieve people who believe the whole movie. Personally I don't even think he needs to twist facts! the facts are painful enough!

Well the whole segment where he did that was all sarcastic. There was funny music in the background. It's not like they could've signed up their kids anyway, their kids have to do that themselves. You said that he doesn't need to twist facts, but in this segment, there was no real element of any facts. There were no facts to be twisted. Go read Surian's post again near the end of page 7.

NOONE said that this was a perfect movie. We have all admitted that it isn't. And defending something doesn't mean that we think it's perfect. Defending something means that you disagree with the attacker's points.

I agree with tyjet (OH MY GOD) let me finish though LOL.

That's true. I don't like this about Mike as he does it a lot and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It's like... come on Mike, don't resort to cheap shots like that; it makes you look like just another mud slinger.

It's really funny actually, this debate reminds me of the arguments I get in with a couple of my friends who are REAAALLY liberal... like way far left people. I get into arguments with them and suddenly I turn into the conservative when in actuallity we are all liberals and I'm just not as far left as they are.

Same here... it's really hard to be a liberal republican... you have to pick your battles carefully...

Yes, that does have some merit.

I'm liberal, but not far left liberal. I disagree with some far left liberal issues; some republican views do make sense. So I'm like a softcore liberal democrat.

How's it going untouchable1? We've missed you in the discussion, tyjet is getting lonely as the only one to defend his side ;)

lol, glad to see im missed!

anyway i think what tyjet3 is trying to get across now is that some people just want to justify a movie simply because it's there. it is when this happens that fights break out over an already divided subject. it is usually also human nature to be attracted first to the party that has already established itself even as a slightly more dominant oppinion. example:

*yawn* i really dont care to go back to the bush subject but for all i know it could have started like this: two rednecks in a bar are talking about politics (omg its already bad enough). anyway they are throwing oppinions back and forth from their sides of the argument until another guy comes over and joins one of them in his anti-bush talks. this party has established a firm two-to-one lead in the arguement therefore most everyone else in the bar joins to this side. when they all go home they leak anything they heard, true or false, to their friends and family and soon to the whole continental US. in time a few intelligents got hold of it and slapped a few facts and figures into the equation for an even less deniable 'truth' effect. one of these being whatz-his-name (lol, sounds argonian) that made Farenheit 9-11 which effectively converted many many other people. the process tumbled until it fell into the laps of MWsource forum users.

and so you see, this bush war could have started with nothing but a simple 2:1 ratio and the human sheep psyche that follows. and you cant debate against your own built in thought processes. so these facts and figures give people something they can grab and show other people in order to further the process until the bush name and all his followers are put 'in their places' as some redneck somewhere prolly said.

well ok thats my piece, hoped you enjoyed it! nobody quote me cuz im not coming back to this thread.

(psht yeah right like those are gonna happen. you with the genie, try and get a refund for those three wishes...)
