Klipeti
I have been working on bow model until I got to point where I want to put it in game. Model was ready when I noticed that making bows isn't like making swords: they need bones to work.So I downloaded this tutorial: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13604 The tutorial is clear and all, but my model doesn't have any bones so I can't follow the tutorial. Are there good tutorials anywhere for making bow with bones completely from scratch?I tried googling and searching youtube but no luck. Model is made on Autodesk 3ds Max 2010. Edit: I have no experience with bones, but I know what they are for. So please no complicated answers (if there are any) :) Edited February 13, 2013 by Klipeti
anb2004
import one of vanilla bow...delete the mesh make your custom bow mesh and use skin modifier to rig into the bones that comes from vanilla bow. using skin modifier will not always perfectly skinning new mesh (in this case is your custom bow mesh). kind of tricky with manual weight paint or with assigning value as it was mention in the tutorial. Just make sure you didnt forget to fix the weight for the string.

Klipeti
I got the model in game. Now I have a new problem... The bow is off it's position because it's stuck on the bone. It works and model is fine but position sucks. Edited February 14, 2013 by Klipeti

anb2004
- Make sure it properly skinned.- Make sure shader setting in shader flag 1 & 2 are set properly. you can find the shader flags in the BSLightingShaderProperty.
