Riddleofsteel
I downloaded and installed the 'additional reticules' mod for the scoped weapons. It only replaces one file that I know of. For some reason when I look through a scope the view is tinted red and the side of the screen (right and left) are covered by black bars. Is there something else I did that messed it up? Thanks for any ideas.
Pelinor
Exactly which one did you use? I'll download and test it. If you're seeing black bars on the sides, it means the lens circle mask is missing. The letterboxing is about the only thing keeping me from making iron sights, since it's always there when a scope view is used. The red tinted view must mean the material from one part is attached to another.
Riddleofsteel
First I installed the 'fixed' regular crosshair file, then I over-wrote it by accident with the Fixed Red Dot sight. Also when I use the Sako sniper rifle mod and try to zoom in it doesn't look through the scope at all, it just zooms my regular view way in. I think this is unrelated though. I fix it by un-equipping the rifle and then re-equipping it. Which leads to the error I have described previously. Thanks for any help.
Pelinor
That's really an odd problem. I do see the Sako zoom problem as well, but when I re-equip it the scope shows up fine. The only thing I can think of is a corrupted file. If you haven't already, you should download the crosshair again and overwrite the existing one. To fix the TRG's problem, they say you'll have to open the .bsa in the GECK utility and re-assign the scope01.nif as the scope model.
Riddleofsteel
Yeah it really is a weird problem. I re-downloaded the fixed crosshair file and extracted it again but the red tint and letterboxing is still there. It isn't a huge deal but it looks awful when you are trying to snipe something. About using the GECK util, which bsa file do I have to open? I am a noob to using the GECK. Thanks again.
Pelinor
You'll have to open TRG.bsa and edit 'WeapTRG.' Under Art and Sound, you check "Has Scope" and make the Target NIF look to \interface\hud\scope01.nif (or whatever you prefer) and then save it. Riddleofsteel
I don't have a TRG.bsa, I edited the TRG.esp file. Will that work? I will wait to find out before I do anything.
Pelinor
Oops, I meant the .esp file. I've been at it so long today that file types are starting to blur.
Riddleofsteel
Cool, it worked. Just has the red boxed view. I will google around but I doubt anyone else has encountered this. Thanks again for your help.
Pelinor
Ah, well you're welcome. I hate to see my work not fully enjoyed by others, though. As a curiosity, you might want to try another reticle pattern to see if it has the same problem. I'll work on rebuilding the red dot sights tomorrow, so check for updates as well--it might do away with whatever is wrong.
