Mods Won't Activate

I have been trying to get the mods for Fallout to work but whenever I add more than one mod the game won't activate the mods. I open Data Files, check the boxes, and leave but when I go back in they are all unchecked. I have tried reinstalling the game but that had no effect and now I'm stumped. I've checked online and there are no solutions as far as I can tell so I'm asking here. If anyone knows what to do please tell me because I already beat the game twenty times without mods and now its boring without them.

It doesn't uncheck them all after you exit the data files window, but it does when you re-enter the data files window. So check all the ones you need to check the first time you enter the data files window, and the next time you play the game you'll have to recheck them all over again.

So basically...

Run the game [insert CD into disk drive, or click on the desktop / programs icon for Fallout 3]

Go to Data Files.

Check all the files that need checked.

Press OK.

Press play.

The mods should work after doing this.

Same problem for me.

I switched to the Fallout Mod Manager, this helped a lot, since I have several mods installed and I'm working on my own mod and I don't want to check them whenever I want to start Fallout 3. The Mod Manager keeps doing this automaticly.

I'm having the same issues as of late. I open the FOMM and check my mods, launch the game and the mods are not activated. Now, I'm running into problems where mods that I have been using the entire game are all of a sudden unchecking themselves as well. One of the latest mods that I'm trying to use is the one that allows you to continue after the MQ, but I cannot get it to stay checked and it does not work in the game either. I've tried manually editing the plugins.txt file, but that does absolutely nothing. Is there possibly a limit as to how many mods can be running at one time?
