Blood effects not showing

I'm trying to get blood effects to show on custom sword in game, followed this tutorial to the letter, and blood effects still will not show in game.

 

 

Why isn't it working?

 

Apologies if a thread on this already exists, could find none in search.

Tutorial makes no mention of doing first person sword!

 

Sometimes when you focus so intently on a problem you can't see the forest for the trees ;)
