Creation Kit Crashes

So I've decided to hop on the band wagon and make my first mod. I want to make a weapon mod that adds a scythe to the game. I've got the mesh modeled entirely:

I've got the diffuse, specular and normal maps made:

And I've gotten the .obj of the model converted into a nif for both the first person view and everything else.

 

I use the Daedric Battle Axe as a template in the Creation Kit. I change the model of the 1stpersonDaedricBattleAxe, works just fine. Go into the DaedricBattle and change all the stats to the way I want, okay. Go to the Art and Sounds tab, change the model to reaperscythe.nif and the Creation Kit crashes.

 

Has anyone else encountered this problem and know what I have to do to fix this?

 

EDIT: Alright, after some messing around, I believe I was able to isolate the problem as the main reaperscythe.nif model, as when I chose to replace the ebonybattleaxe.nif with the 1stpersonreaperscythe.nif, it didn't crash and I was able to at least get it in game. However, when I craft it, it's still the ebony battle axe in the crafting menu. When I equip it in first person, it's still the ebony battle axe in first person and when I sheath it it's still the ebony battle axe on my back.

 

But when I drop it on the ground, this is what I get:

A scythe made entirely of leather. and the model is all kinds of messed up (could have something to do with the fact that I made multiple models and placed them over each other, causing them to clip over).

 

So now what do?
