Accidentally uninstalled mods, reinstalled but CTD

So I'm playing SSE on a PC (for the first time and I love it!), I'm using MO2, I have almost 300 mods with 249 plugins and my animations are right on 10,000. I got a lot of mods I don't use anymore but I have avoided uninstalling things with scripts - I'm a total newbie but I know there are things you can uninstall pretty safely and things you shouldn't, so I'm living with my reckless choices to try out like 6 player homes and quest mods and too many followers etc.

I got to level 79, everything was going great, then I accidentally uninstalled about 50 mods, including some big ones like Bruma Beyond Skyrim and Growl Werebeasts of Skyrim.

I reinstalled them all, triple checked they were the exact same versions (most were downloaded through MO so it was easy to just reinstall them), restored a backup of my modlist from a couple of days earlier, restored a backup of my plugins list from the same time, checked my most recent hard save to make sure no ESPs etc were missing, looked in my MO2 folders to check my load order etc was exactly correct and not missing anything, ran Bodyslide, ran FNIS, CTD on the first load screen. Every time.

I can load old saves at level 55, but the first save I can't load (also lvl 55) has literally NO DIFFERENCE in mods or anything from the save before it. I don't have a script cleaner like Fallrim Tools installed, but maybe that's my next move? Any advice appreciated :)

I believe about the only thing you can do is go to a save before you uninstalled those mods and play from there.

My last save was before I uninstalled those mods at level 79, but I can't load that one or any saves all the way back to level 55. And the weird thing is that I didn't even install any new mods at level 55 - so like level 55 'save 006' or anything earlier loads fine, but 'save 007' and everything later just crashes as I try to load in

If you installed new mods mid game that is very likely the cause of crashing from level 55.

One of the first things a new modder learns, or should, is not to install or remove mods from an ongoing game. That is almost a certain way to break your game, as you have discovered. The only time you should do this is if the mod author specifically says it is alright to do so on the description page of the mod. If you are at all uncertain then you should ask, usually on the Post on the mod page.

You will undoubtedly have to continue your game from that level 55 save.

You could also decide which mods you are sure you want to use in your game and start a new game.

You should also not update mods mid game unless the mod author says it is alright to do so.
