"Optimizers, Speed-Tools, Speed Mods"

Lately there has been an increasing number of "Mods" on Skyrim-Nexus appearing that claim to speed up Skyrim. Many of these tools are not mods at all and feature very few explanations, offer little in detail about what they do or alter, and often times make changes to a user's PC that isn't documented or difficult for some users to reverse.

Many of these "Optimizers" just remove unwated services such as Printer spool and Aero theme. Unlike well-known optimizers such as Razer Game boosters, these don't have any real customization and have deceptive advertising for their description.

Optimizers have been part of Nexus since as long as I can remember, but I'm curious what the official stance is on these? Should these be allowed? I mean, to be honest, these programs are not limited to Skyrim. They alter a person's PC, often times without any option to "Revert back", leaving users puzzled or complaining how to undo the changes.

What are your thoughts? Personally, I'd like to see these tools removed from Nexus. If people want to optimize Skyrim or run in a gaming mode, they can download third-party things like the aforementioned Razer Game Booster. Many of these things are well-documented and have powerful features anyway.

I'm fine with plugins that claim to speed up a person's PC as they can safely be disabled, but third-party external programs? Starting to look like CNET in here..
