Grab!!!

I've newly started playing F3 and am having a blast, but one thing confounds me. In the manual there under controls it says that Z is for grab but I've yet to find out the function of grab. I would appriciate if someone could enlighten me on the matter

It picks an item up without adding it to your inventory, so you can move it around the game world. Useful for dragging and posing bodies, carrying items without going over your weight limit, and arranging objects in your home. Tap Z once to grab, and again to drop.

 

Note that Z-grabbing does count as stealing if what you're trying to move is owned by an NPC or a faction.

no it doesn't, nobody ever attacked me for that like in Oblivion. people complained or called me a weirdo, but otherwise you can rearrange all the objects you want.

Never tried it myself, but seen videos of people Z-grabbing something off into a corner to steal it without anyone complaining.

I think the rationale is that in Fallout 3, neg karma is the incentive to keep you from stealing while Oblivion has no karma system.

On The Xbox it is possible to steal all the stuff in the Rivet city market place by dragging it to a dark corner and then stealing so that no one see's you steal the item.
