Replacing fallout3's bsas with oblivion's bsas. Is it possible

Is it possible to get fallout to run oblivion's esm and bsa files?

I've tried replacing the esms and the various bsas. as well as the file list in the FALLOUT.ini and fallout_prefs.ini.

This does not seem to work when i try running fallout3.exe and it just crashes to the desktop. Has anyone else tried this?

well let's first look at the point that what you're trying to do is illegal...as you're trying to use one games assets in another (whether it's made by the same poeple or not is irrelevant)...

second...why on earth would you try to do this?

Third, Fallout 3 uses completely different .nif files and armatures.

4th, the names of meshes and textures are different from which saved in the Fallout3.esm.

The only thing you will get is a crash. But try and tell!

Hehe thank you for the replies.

I did this because boredom and curiosity got the better of me :whistling: I've played both Oblivion and Fallout3 and enjoyed them thoroughly.

Really?? It's illegal? Oops i didn't realise it at the point cuz was too excited at the prospect of a interesting experiment. I just got the idea out of the blue since it's the holidays and i was boreded  Also i was curious hehe.

Theoretically if i replace fallout3.esm with oblivion.esm while leaving the other bsas unchanged, wouldn't the game recognize the proper archives if i change the essential files and archives list in the inis? However you are right - so far all I'm getting is a crash to desktop

If this really is illegal then i guess i'll stop trying  But if it's not.. let me know your ideas on how to get oblivion to run using fallout3.exe
