IntoExile
I just bought Oblivion for windows last weekend and decided that it was time to install some mods. I started by downloading the unofficial update and then the deadly reflexes mod, Natural Environments mod and the bedrolls and tents mod. When I started the game EVERYTHING was slow. Gameplay was really laggy and fps seemed to have dropped hugely. I tried various things such as disabling each separately and then I even deleted them all manually. Nothing worked. In the end I reinstalled the game and it was back to how it should have been. This time i decided just to try one mod so I used the Deadly reflexes mod and what do you know: it was super slow. If anyone could help me that would be great. I really don't want to miss out on these mods. Thanks  Edit: I reinstalled it another time and this time it's still going slow even with no mods! Also I've noticed that when I'm outside, grass loads about 20 feet in front of me so when I'm walking along I can clearly see it appearing right before me. Is this normal?
bben46
What are your computer specs? The listed minimum specs will barely run at all. Deadly Reflexes and Natural Environments are both large mods that use a lot of resources. On a weak system they could be a cause of slow downs. Are you using OBMM, OBSE or any other additional programs with the game? As to the grass, there is a setting in the options menu that sets how far out the grass stops. As well as settings for many other visual effects. One trick for a slow system is to lower all of the visual effects, as well as the video resolution to make it run faster. It's a trade off between how good it looks and how well it runs. If the rest of your computer is good, adding ram is usually the easiest way to improve speed without giving up resolution. But if you have a slow CPU, or a slow graphics card It might not help much. Recommended mods to helpLow poly grassquiet feet complete I don't recommend Streamline as it is a beta that will probably never be finished and has problems. Put the performance mods in one at a time and see what they do before adding another one.
IntoExile
Hmm, the resolution was at 800x600 and so i changed it to 1024x768. This made a HUGE improvement strangely and now i'm playing with all of the mods perfectly. Maybe my computer didn't support that resolution somehow? Oh well, Thanks for the help.
