johna711
well, i just got some new hardware, and ever since my game has been crashing constantly.i can only very rarely load a save game- it always stalls at the confirmation screenwhen i finally get in game i have maybe a minute before everything just dies on me- freezes and starts that clicking noise that games make when they crash.oddly, if i'm talking to an npc when this happens, they will finish their line, and stop, so this makles me think its more the ui locking up than the game itself. finally, 10-20% of the time, the game will never even make it to the main menu- it will just stall at that empty black screen. specs:3.5 gb ram9800 gtamd 9600 quadcore any suggestions?ive disabled all my mods, but that still doesn't help much, and i read somewhere that might make my loading issues even worse. mattlax8
Make sure you get new drivers for new hardware!

mattlax8
Hmm, maybe it has something to do with threading. Fallout 3 and quad cores don't mix very well. To fix problems that might be caused by threading issues, try this:Open your FALLOUT.ini in My Documents/My Games/Fallout 3Add these lines somewhere in the FALLOUT.ini file: bUseThreadedAI=1iNumHWThreads=2 This makes the game only use 2 of the four processors in your quad core. Maybe this will fix it!
domanz
If you try to troubleshoot don't try to load a savegame which originally used mods. They might be broken (or not), and you'll never get to the problem. I had similar problems as I installed additional RAM, when I removed the new hardware my problems were gone. So, if you recently installed RAM, try removing it. Did you unistall the old drivers before installing the new ones?
