LE MOD IDEA: Dishonored Blink Mod

ATTENTION: this topic might contain SPOILERS about the game Dishonored for those who didn't play it yet.

Technical note: It my first topic ever. I hope I wrote everything correctly. I don't know anything about tags though... I wrote the tags as if I was on youtube. I hope it's right :)

After playing Dishonored and going back to Skyrim I was really tempted to just Blink on top of rocks or to the other side of a river... Then I had the idea: a lore-friendly Blink ablility for the Dovahkiin. And what's the best way to give a new ability to a Dragonborn? That's right, a shout!

• HOW TO OBTAIN THE SHOUT
  

It would be cool to have a little (not too difficult) quest (lets say, for a level 25-30 character...) that lets you unlock the shout. I didn't think much about that part of the mod, though...

I don't know if it's possible to add new words. I tried mods that added new shouts, but none of them added new words. Just in case it can't be done, I thought about "wind" from Wirlwind, "balance" from Unrelenting Force and "speed" from Elemental Fury (not sure if this shout has a "speed" word...). In both cases, each word lets you reach farer places, like Blink lvl 2 in Dishonored.

• HOW DOES THE SHOUT WORK
  

When you keep the shout button pressed and you get a "marker" effect like the Dishonored power. When you release the shout button you blink to where you were pointing, like the Wirlwind shout.

• EFFECTS AND APPEARENCE FOR THE SHOUT
  

It would be really cool and useful to have a custom effect like the original one for the "marker": one that tells you where you will blink, one that tells you where you will fall. However, correct me if I'm wrong, I believe not many modders can/want to make new custom effects. I hope I'm wrong :)

If, for any reasone, something like this can't be done, I though about some efficient alternatives: the marker could be a resized version of the "violet sphere" that appeares when you summon something.

When you actually Blink there could be the same effect as the Wirlwind shout... maybe with a bit of blue tint, if possible, in order to make it a bit more unique...

Each word lets you reach farer places, like Blink lvl 2 in Dishonored.

• ALTERNATIVE - if you don't want to make the Blink ability a new shout
  

Blink could a power or simply a spell (not suggested: not-mage charactera could be disappointed by that) that you have to unlock if you complete a certain quest for a daedra, maybe a new lore-friendly daedric being...

The power/spell would cost not much magicka. I don't know the numer, but you should make it so that the player can use it after no more than 1 minute (considering vanilla magicka regeneration). I would suggest you not to base the values on the Dishonored ones, because the power/spell can become overpowered if used too frequently.

• RELEATED IDEAS
  

Optional: a perk (in Light Armor, or Sneak, or Wayfarer if you have SkyRe... or Alteration maybe, if you want Blink to be a spell) that lets you jump (A LITTLE) higher. The Dishonored Agility skill let's you almost double the jump height, but Skyrim is not made for this kind of things... and the jump would resoult quite weird, expecially in third person.

The perk could have two ranks: 1st rank lets you move a little faster while not wearing heavy armor; 2nd rank could lets you jump a little higher while not wearing heavy armor. The heavy armor exception is for obvious reasons: it's quite impossible to jump very high with a big steel armor...

More ranks can be added in order to increase the bonus values, but not too much! :)

Perk mods are a bit troublesome because there are many mods that alter perks. As a SkyRe user I would really appreciate that, if you decide to make the perk too, you add a compatible version :)

There may be too many details... I'm not a modder and I don't have enough time to learn, but I often have good (in my opinion) ideas and I like to think as a modder when I think about them :) However, these are suggestions of course: feel free to do as you like, add your ideas, so that this can become a really cool mod :)

There are a number of mods that already have some version of this.

 

Try a search for Airstream, or Warrior Keke. Warrior Keke has a whole spell package this is outstanding. Apocalyptic Spells is another outstanding spell package mod that has a version of this already.

i think the psijic teleport spell mod has what you want im not sure if that's the name though but look through the results of a search on psijics

Thank you for the answers :smile: AirStream seems to be like the alternate spell version of my idea. The Warrior Keke spells are really cool, but they are too powerful for my game (mods used and character), plus I would like not to add too many scripts to my game (low-end pc...). I played some time with the Apocalypse Spell Package, but, again, it's a problem of too many scripts for me. The psijic teleport spell is a teleport spell and I don't like very much that mod... just personal taste :smile:

I didn't think there were already Dishonored mods out, so I went straight here. Ironically, this morning I found a Blink mod. However it teleports you exactly behind your target (enemy) and it costs stamina.

EDIT: I tried the Airstream spell. It has a huge problem: it attracts the enemies' attention, so I can't use it while sneaking. The request is still open for me :)
