thecompanionthief
i've been playing skyrim for the past few days and it was running perfectly with almost no load time whatsoever (i could only read half of the random fact at the bottom before everything loaded) but the other night it decided not to load at all and i haven't been able to get through to the game since. i'm playing a vanilla game with no mods (and not through steam) with windows 8 on a laptop that's only a few months old. i've tried everything: restarting my computer, reinstalling the game, defragmenting the drive, and more. i'm so frustrated and i have no idea what to do :( any suggestions? ThePopeKYA
It sounds like a corrupted save to me. I've had it happen a couple of times and had to revert to an earlier save. My only advice might be to try the "SKYRIM Save Cleaner" on the main page of the Nexus right now. Skimming the comments shows that many people who'd lost saves like you had got them up and running again using this tool. I wish I had it to test earlier. Try that and see if it works. thecompanionthief
this won't work for me because i can't get into the game to use the console, no matter how long i wait... it eventually goes to not responding.
thecompanionthief
WAIT i took the save before last out of the recycle bin (earlier i had moved all of them there to see if my 100+ saves were causing the problems but didn't want to delete them just in case) and put it back in the saves folder and loaded it up... whaddaya know, it worked! thank you for your help, i wouldn't have thought to do that if you hadn't mentioned the save thing... i was so frustrated i even had my mom looking for solutions. oops.
