m97860662
Hello,New to modding, been following the geck tuts, and moving on to try modelling. So far I've managed to extract a .nif (armor) from the 'Fallout - Meshes bsa' using the FO3 Archive Utility.I've also manage to open it in a 3d program and did one tiny thing to it, then I've exported it back as a .nif file. My problem now is that I have this .nif on my desktop but I have no idea how to get it into the geck. Any help would be appreciated.Thank you. DamianDrazhar
dont blame me if it not works but you have to put your model in the fallout/data/meshes/(your foldername here) directory because your geck just finds it there
m97860662
Thanks for the help, tried it and don't seem to work like that. been reading up and seems that I need to look in to something called NifSkope, but still can't understand how to do it yet. Thanks again.
SpeedyB64
I would Very strongly recommend checking out the TES CS wiki. Fallout works slightly differently than Oblivion but the skills and programs are the same. After that the tutorials on this site make much more sense and are much easier. Armor is the most difficult thing to work with because of rigging. Its usually best to start with a simple static object or a weapon.
m97860662
Thank you for the advance, i have been messing with a helmet so far, and will look into the tes cs wiki like you have suggested. thanks again.
SpeedyB64
Most helmets in the game are rigged to the skeleton and can't simply be replaced. Most of the time you would export the model to .nif then open the nif in nifskope and copy the model data over to a model from the game, this will not work with rigged stuff. If you use 3ds max the new niftools works well. Good luck and just keep messing around with it.
