Sarteka
Ive been working with geck a bit and theres one thing I was never able to do. Change the form ids. I remember that FOMM allowed you to just overwrite the numbers with your own, so why cant i find that option for GECK? Side note: There is some strange size problem with my windows on geck, such as in the edit weapon window the "ok" and "cancel" buttons are off the screen. Could the resolution problem be covering up the edit for the form id? Id like to know how to fix that regardless...
CowgirlFromHell
I don't know how to help you with the first part, but I can help you with the window size problem. Run your windows in the highest possible resolution that's allowed by your monitor.
Triumph675
To change form IDs you simply change the formID to some unique. When you click "ok" it`ll ask you if you want a to create a new form, click "ok". And there you go, it should be in the object window, under the new name. I think he meant without creating a new object. You can do it with FOMM. just open the esp and double click on the item who's form id you want to change and change it manually. Sarteka
Youd think that GECK would have a mechanic to edit the most basic part of the engine, the form id... Maybe we should make a thread of all the improvements that are needed to GECK. What the hell might as well do it myself.

Then it will ask you if you want to change the original - click Yes
Riain
Yeah, that is basically it. You can't change the first two (or more?) numbers because it is assigned by the load order of the plugins, which you can change with FOMM like you said. And like sumoftwosins said, (although he was not specific on which ID) you can change the Form ID (the number id) by changing the ID (the ObjectID, the one that uses characters not numbers) in the box that pops up when you double click the object. Like he said, when you change the object's ID in that box and hit OK, a message will popup that is titled "Create a New Object?" Hit "No." Then it will ask if you are sure and say "Yes." Once done the Form ID (number id that use use with the additem cheat) will also change.
Chambermade
Think the easiest way is using FO3Edit:http://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php/FO3Edit

I been trying to understand how to clone a weapon for editing and then add it to merchants so it will be available in the game, that explains half of the problems I been having still at a loss on adding it in teh game without a cheat...and well that and getting poison attached to something... Cipscis
I'm a little confused, are you all talking about FormIDs or EditorIDs? An EditorID is a unique string that can be used to identify a specific form, whereas a FormID is an eight digit hexadecimal number that can be used to identify a specific form. EditorIDs are user-defined in the GECK, but it automatically generates FormIDs. Cipscis
