DoctorProteus Posted February 22, 2013 Share Posted February 22, 2013 (edited)
Greetings ladies and gentlemen, before I begin, please bare with me, as this is a big wall of text.

I recently reinstalled Skyrim after nearly a year, this is my second playthrough. So, I edited the ini to up the render distance setting to 9(up from 5) along with all other variables to support that smoothly, installed a bunch of mods and HD texture packs, with pretty much most of the graphics on maximum, my computer can handle all of this, and I will post specs and such later. As far as I could see, everything had been installed properly and everything was running fine, i was enjoying long walks and horse rides with my character from the start of the game to Whiterun, from Whiterun to Morthal and other area's, as well as dungeon delving, not a single stutter, not a single glitch, not a crash or anything even wobbling. Then i got the quest "Blade in the Dark" and that made my way to Kynesgrove, and that is when things got wonky.

Basicly, at this point, I was plagued by random and infuriating crashes to the desktop. Each crash is detailed below.

#1 On my way to Kynesgrove, a Dragon appears and attacks the Giants at their camp, you know, the one near a Dragons lair. I engage the Dragon but when it lands to attack a giant, I get a crash.

#2 I decide to take a different route and go to kynesgrove, ignoring the above mentioned Dragon. Upon killing Sahloknir at Kynesgrove and talking to Delphine, i went down the hill to get my horse, then I was struck by a crash.

#3 Sahloknir breathes fire on me and I get a crash.

#4 I kill Sahloknir and i get a crash when I loot his corpse.

#5 I kill Sahloknir, talk to Delphine, then press Esc to bring up the menu, hitting Esp caused a crash.

On the fifth attempt, I killed Sahloknir, talked to Delphine and skipped all her dialogue, however, I then braught up the map and fast traveled to Whiterun, went to my home and saved. I had avoided the crash. I saved the game and quit, and have not played since then earlier in the day, so I dont know if it's just restricted to that quest, but It may have something to do with Dragons, though I had no problems with Dragons before this event. So, does anyone have any theories on what might have went wrong? Because if something is wrong it may repeat again. Below are details about my game.

My games performence, even with everything at crazy levels, is performing beautifully. So I dont think it's a hardware problem.

GRID LOAD ALTERATION: I have been playing on very high settings with superb performence and no slowdown, bugs, glitches, etc... for 5 days, until now. I dont think it has anything to do with the load data)

http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1274926-ugridstoload-skyrimini-comparisons-and-explanation-default-57911/

My current ini settings.

[General]

uExterior Cell Buffer=100

uGridsToLoad=9

iPreloadSizeLimit=84934656

MODS: Sorted by BOSS. FortDawnguardEnhanced.esp unrecognised and manually sorted to best of my ability. (Have not done any cleaning, Im not confident enough in my modding ability to try stuff like this.

Skyrim.esm Active

Update.esm Active

Contains dirty edits: 73 ITM, 1 UDR records with 3.0.28.
