Reddimus
Does anyone else hear this? It annoys me to no end... it's a constant high pitch sound in certain areas and the only way to lower it is to turn the effects slider down.
jansonmercenary
Hmm... I get something similar when I play for an extended period. I localized the culprit to an NPC engaged in various attacks near my location, but just out of sight. It's usually the Flamer that causes this for me if it's fired from very far away; and sometimes, it goes away right away, and at other times, I have to walk for some distance before it eventually stops. If you and I are suffering from the same issue, I haven't figured out a permanent solution, other than to just put up with it. Though, I noticed that the problem occurs a lot less when I disable surround sound in my OS profile. And make sure your audio drivers are up-to-date. Reddimus
Thanks for the reply, I'll fiddle around with those and keep tabs on any flamers nearby.
Styxx42
I have just started getting this buzzing sound. Fast travel and it goes away. What it is I don't know. I think it is encounter related. Meaning that certain encounters trigger it. For me it is not long play time. It happened minutes after I started the game today. It has done it twice today alone. But I fast travel and it goes away or the first time I created a save point, shut down the game and went back in and it was game. Do you have the Dog with you? I do. Could it be related to him? It's called The Ripper. :whistling: (BoS Outcasts sometimes wield them, it makes that awful noise whenever such is the case, and you can hear it for MILES.) Pifflestick
I think I may be experiencing this too, is what your hearing a high-pitched static-like sound? If so then it may have something to do with Supermutants, it seems to happen to me when get near a location with Supermutants. Its really annoying and lags my game to close to crashing and only goes away when I fast travel.
Akadai
I think it's the Ripper too. I was recently wandering on a new character around a raider camp and saw some Outcast walking near it. Shortly later I heard the annoying sound as described above and quickly thought "This is exactly what I just read on the forums" (refering to reading this thread the day before). I hunted down the sound and had to enter the fire fight. In the middle of the fight, the sound suddenly stopped. I later found the dead Outcast and sure enough he (or rather she, as I found out when I removed her armor >_>) had a Ripper as her current equiped weapon. I was hearing that thing from a pretty good distance away I have no idea what causes it to be heard from such a far distance away
