ive tried converting acm sound files from fallout 1 and 2, to .wav, adjusted the speed and pitch accordingly, but they all sound really shaky, low quality. (like it's getting empty spaces in between the bits of sound playing, i'm no sound engineer so i really don't know what's wrong)

i do have a huge collection of conventional gun sounds from all the rainbow6 and ghost recon games of the past :P

if you have a decent mic or sound recorder try grabbing a simple WAV recording program, load up fallout 3, turn down all music, crank up the volume maximum, crank up your speakers

Shoot the weapon, while recording :)

better than nothing!

@sumyungai

it's just simple mesh smooth on the grip... i haven't even collapsed it to the mesh (and i'm too drunk to do uv unwrap at the moment)

i'll make a smooth version and a low poly version, see how much the smooth version impacts game performance.. i really like it smooth, though.

You can retain all the smoothness you desire using a normal map. Polygonal geometry only needs to be smooth around the edges to retain a smooth-looking silhouette.

Inner geometry can be as basic as one big square, but when it is looked at from odd angles, you have to ensure the profile is smooth, so there and only there are additional polygons needed. :)

Back in my day characters were limited to 150 polygons, and we liked it! (tombraider 1 and quake 1 etc)
