Oblivion Uninstall

The only real way is to use the original disk. But if you have already removed the Oblivion.exe - the game file. That will not work either. I haven't tried this, But if it had something to remove it might work.

Create a junk file and name it Oblivion.exe, place it in the Bethesda\Oblivion folder. Then, using the original disk try the uninstall. Let me know if this works.

However, uninstalling, no matter which method you try does not remove your data directory with the mods, Your cave game files or the Oblivion.ini where all of your game parameters such as video resolution are stored. And most importantly if you are having weird problems, uninstalling does not remove the Oblivion references in the Windows Registry.

I have a procedure for backing up, then removing all of these, and reinstalling with a clean game and a clean game backup.

Worst case removal. Delete both folders where oblivion is kept - Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion and the Documents and Settings\...\My Games\Oblivion. That will remove all except the registry entries. Then use a program like the free ccleaner or some other registry cleaner to remove the orphan entries.

I still have oblivion exe. So I shold just delete the folders?

I tried using Setup.exe as well but all it did was begin to install oblivion. From what I've heard double installs are pretty bad. Also I don't wan't to reinstall oblivion.

Also I've tried the guide found in the stickies. I couldn't find "Bethesda Softworks" in the regedit.
