Kicking your enemy

occasionally when my characters fight unarmed I see them kick the enemies (not in a martial arts way) and I was wondering if the damage potential was different than a punch

I may be wrong, but I believe that the kick is the animation used for Unarmed critical hits.

 

I seem to get a lot of crits against Radroaches, which is high-larious. *STOMP*

I think that's just the default animations for attacking roaches in VATS. I only saw it recently because up to then I didn't think it necessary to use VATS against an opponent who does about 0.2 damage and could be killed by being scowled at...

I think its Unarmed Critical its fun at dogs they get weird necks of it :biggrin: i think its a VATS crit unrmed hit since without vats my char cant Kick (even with crit)

It's not just for roaches. Kicking usually occurs if the target's center of mass is bellow the player's waist. Try attacking a cowering or paralyzed NPC. Curb-stomp!
