AnelaidLives Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 As much as I love the game, one question I've always had. The cars in fallout apparantely have a tendency to explode with little damage. Given they were most likely nuked, is it just that radiation over time caused instabilities, along with lack of maintence, or is it a reference to the lack of safety most 40-60 era cars had? Its a trivial point, but whenever I'm bored I go back to that. Also, the shelters are pretty horrible, tried hiding in one next to a car, just before it exploded. 50s construction at its best.
link99912 Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Hmm... Well, the cars can't be that bad, considering they survived a nuclear war... I think its because they run on a nuclear car battery which has probably been degrading from both the outside and the inside. Not the mention rust, rain, wind, snow, bombs, not being tooken in for a tune up in over 200 years, and then being shot at an exposed engine can be pretty brutal on a car, futeristic or not.
