Desert Dish Girls [need your input]

Desert Dishes is meant to be a retro-futuristic take on "peepshows" of the 1950's era. I got the idea from the misinterpretation of Cat's Paw in Fallout 2. I thought the idea added an interesting flavor to the hammy sexual overtones of the Fallout series.

While this mod will introduce some nudity and suggestive language, it will not contain any sexual content. In fact, the nudity will be quite mild by today's standards (no microphotography, penetration, or anything along those lines). I feel that this is in keeping with the atmosphere set in the previous (canon!) Fallout games.

Basically, there will be a "theater" run by some old male without a father that has collected images of wasteland women by paying them to show their goods on film. Being that technology is limited, these are simply a series of still images with a matching storyline. I am trying to keep the storyline entertainingly suggestive.

Each image in the Desert Dish is actually a short video that comes up on the player's screen when the terminal entry is accessed (interruptable by the ESC key just in case of a misclick or an RL intrusion). These images can be accessed through a terminal that a player pays a nominal fee to use. I also have a working ESP that allows the player to carry around a book that works like a portable terminal - which, of course, allows players to view their Desert Dish collection anywhere they wish.

The hitch: players must complete quests if they want more holotapes of the fairer sex! There will be a small reward for turning these holotapes over to the pervert running the Desert Dish establishment. Of course, he'll also copy the holotape into your personal "Terminal Book" for a nominal fee.

I am willing to take any criticism on this mod so dish it out! This is a lot of work and I don't want to do it if no one is going to use the damn thing. Post your comments here or at the DarksideMoonbase.com website link below.

This link contains (along with all this blathering here) a very rough sample video made for the November Desert Dish Girl "Lucy Charms" along with a couple teaser images.

Good idea.

I'd like it if there's a wide selection of girls; a normal wastelander type gal, a raider-like girl, and a post apocalyptic glamour girl.

Lucy Charms seems alright. She's pretty. And it would be good if she's wearing clothes that look a bit worn. It is the wasteland, you know.

All in all, good idea and candidate for insta-download.

Just coming back to this as I look at the 2 mockups...

its missing a big corporate name!

Look around the Fallout 3 universe and every single thing has a logo or fictional corporate logo stamped on it, advertising and consumerism was huge in the heyday before (and after) the war, every company was jostling for consumer dollars and they wanted only THEIR products to suceed.

Just like Cat's Paw magazine, you need a logo and a name to stamp in the corners of these mini features!

Maybe you could still use Cat's Paw, but you'd have to recreate the logo loyally(sp). This could be more of a Cat's Paw North exclusive.

this reminds me of the scene in A Boy And His Dog where Don Johnson and the dog go to the movies at a wasteland encampment.

you should watch for ideas...part 3 of 10 (the scene starts towards the end of this clip, watch part 4 too)

good luck!

Interesting movie, I had never heard of it. It certainly has a lot of wasteland flavor but the talking dog really throws me off! At any rate, it's good inspiration to use. Thanks.

Nova would be a natural for this...

Hmm I thought about using Fallout characters but tying them to the quest is going to be tricky given that all these others mods are using Fallout characters in different ways. I thought it would be rather silly if you approached her with a holotape of her getting nekkid and she doesn't say anything about it.

I guess if people don't mind that the characters just won't be involved I could include them. Maybe it could even be some sort of special, secret holotape?

You're right - at first I had a huge shiney Desert Dish logo but then I thought about this old male without a father and his silly little operation and I couldn't figure how he'd have gotten such a nice logo. I considered using Cat's Paw but I don't like stomping on the toes of the Fallout canon (especially where Cat's Paw as often suggested to be an adult magazine but the player could never figure out what the magazines were even on close examination).

Maybe I can work out a sort of compromise... the guy running the shows may have just simply stolen a logo from something and used it as his own logo. Might be funny if the clips have a fancy logo of "Mario's Fresh Produce" on them. The manager would have to come up with a story for how he got such a weird logo, huh?
