kuseikos
Hi pals!I just downloaded the great BAB female body replacement, and it works fine: all female bodies are now correctly replaced by the new model. Also, the shop and the new clothes all show up correctly. What puzzles me is that the new meshes for the original armors do not show up: I keep getting the same old annoying armors for females, no replacement, even for the clothes. Yet, all the .nif files are in the DATA folder.I have tried OBMM with all possible forms of archive invalidations, but nothing: I load the save file and the character is still wearing the old armor, no replacement.I tried to install a new game on another PC, and add the BAB file on a fresh installation. Still, no new armor.I started a new game on the old installation, to see if only old save files are affected: I picked up the first rought leather armor off the famous skeleton at the beginning of the game, and still it was the same old model, no new replacement. I tried all four types of archive invalidations in Oblivion Mod Manager but they do not change anything. Only, with the archiveinvalidation file, all I get is that the armor textures remain the same, but the helmets and boots (which aren't affected by the mod), are gone from the save file (they don't show up though they appear in the equipment). What am I doing wrong? I downloaded the BAB file precisely because I find the original female armors totally revolting, and I want to use the upgraded ones. Without the armors I see no point with downloading and installing the new female body replacer. Can someone help me please? :wallbash:

kuseikos
yep, I did get the shop, that works fine. It's the regular armors, according to the makers they were adapted to fit the new body model; in fact there are a lot of new .nif files that should replace the cuirasses and greaves that come with the original game, but while all the new items and the shop work fine, the replaced armors still look same old. I had downloaded bab before and I was never aware that it was supposed to change the armour that is already in game. Sorry I'm not much help here. But If you look in the babs shop to the armor selling npc I think you will otic where your .nifs went :-) they have new elven armour and glass and all that . I don't think they meant to replace the existins textures but to add some that fit the new bab body.
kuseikos
Thanks for the help pal... anyway, the BAB creators do say that they have converted all the original armors and clothes (and they have all the .nifs for that too!!) but... for some unfathomable reason, their converted stuff refuses to show up in my game (and, judging on your words, I suspect they didn't show up in yours either...) Anyone else has a clue at this point?
kuseikos
Ok, information for those who care - MAYBE I found the reason why things don't show up as they should. I am no expert of Oblivion modding, but I tried to read the contents of the .esm and .esp files (bab.esm and bab.esp) and I found out something interesting: - The bab.esm file contains a list of links, such as the following : "textures\weapons\babweapons\requiemsword\dragon1.dds" which points to a specific file (the dragon1.dds file, in this case, which is a texture file). If I go to the custom "textures" folder created by bab, the texture file is right there where it is supposed to be. In fact, the requiemsword works fine in the game and it is found in the shop as it was expected to. - The bab.esp file contains a list of links, such as the following : "meshes\armor\blackwood\m\curiass.nif" which points to a file that doesn't exist due to a misspelling ("CURIASS instead of CUIRASS"). MAYBE, I repeat, MAYBE, the file doesn't work because there is a misspelling which prevents the program from reading the whole file correctly? Also interesting, I found no link to "meshes\armor\leather\f\cuirass.nif", which should be in bab.esp, I think. This means that the leather\f\cuirass.nif file is not pointed at anywhere? - The bab.esm file contains some links, such as the following : "textures\armor\leather\f\cuirass.dds" which points to no new texture file. It is therefore linking straight to the original file. The .dds files are, I figured this much, "texture" files, while the ".nif" files are meshes. I suppose that in order to work properly, the bab.esp file should be rid of misspellings, and also there should be a link somewhere to the new meshes. Also, I suppose, but this might be wrong, that there should be new texture files for the replaced armors. Am I missing something here? I will also post this on the bab official forum, but if there is anyone here that knows more than I do (=I know nothing at all about mods) can you please explain to me how these things work? Am I missing something? :wallbash:
Pwnzor1130
Either the BAB modders screwed up really badly or your version is messed up. Try reinstalling the mod to see if that helps. If it doesn't, just try a new mod. I recommend Exnem's EyeCandy with HGEC and the high rez texture package. I know from experience that the updated armor works.
