PC noob with question about upgrading my laptop.

Recommended Posts

So hello, this is my first time posting on the nexus forum but I am an avid user of the NMM and the mods etc. So right now I have an HP Pavilion dv7-6b56nr laptop with a AMD A6-3400m 1.4 GHz quad-core APU processor with a built in Radeon HD 6520g graphics card and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. Now I've been getting into PC gaming a lot lately and I've been able to play some older games on pretty high settings and some newer ones at a decent frame rate but of course now I just want more. So my question is since the processor and graphics card are on the same chip thing do I have to get another processor with the graphics card built in? Or can I get a new processor and an individual graphics card. To note i'd like to stay with AMD simply because they are cheaper and I'm just more use to it. I'll also include a link to my specific laptop on newegg. Thank you and I hope I get my question answered.

Laptops are usually made so that you cant upgrade the cpu/gpu. With quick googling with my phone I couldnt find any hints on if that specifig laptop could be upgraded.

So you could upgrade the cpu, but there is no confirmation if the BIOS will accept the new cpu correctly.
