emoneol
A whole new weapon type? With new animations and stats?Hi. I'm doing custom animation replacement and scenes right now, when I was wondering this.I suppose we can't since nobody has did this just yet, but I ask to clear up the doubt. If it is impossible, do you know why? where does the animations and weapon type stuff lies (if it is not in CK or script)? If it is possible I could be just capable of doing it if I knew the way to implement this. Relativelybest
I'm no expert, but from what I understand from past discussions, it would require you to actually replace one of the vanilla weapon types with the new one. There may be other problems as well, I don't know. Anyway, I'm guessing at least it's not easy since nobody seems to have tried it. bben46
Plenty of people have tried it - Beth left us with a limited number of weapon type slots in the game engine. Then each type has a limited number of animations that go with it. Search for 'flail' or 'whip' - there is a lot more on trying to get these to work in Oblivion, but the same problems were encountered in Skyrim. For spear, there has been some limited success. MikeDavis
Adding new combat weapon types and new custom creatures with animations should be the core of modding, not some retexture a quest kill ffsWIll be so cool to have "Whip" in shyrim. We need a petition? StormWalker183
I'm currently in the process of adding one-handed crossbows with custom animations to the game, so I can tell you that adding custom animations is possible through FNIS (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/11811). However, any new animations have to be classified as idles and then implemented via scripting/behavior files. I'm not too clear on details as I've yet to begin actually creating and implementing the animations.
