Options when un/installing skin textures w/ Char Overhauls

Hi,

I'm not a total newbie at installing mods (I've modded all three of the modern TES games to some extent or another at various times as well as other games), but I've never quite understood what happens when one installs a mod, then installs another mod that overwrites portions of the prior mod, so on and so forth.

What I'm particularly interested in is understanding my current set up/install order as well as what options I have in terms of altering it and to what extent.

To wit, I started out using the Concise Skyrim Modding Guide 2020 for Skyrim SE, which I've found to be pretty fantastic for retaining the 'feel' of the original game while still improving it pretty drastically, and then added stuff beyond that that did not address the same stuff (I believe).

Specifically, I've installed Nordic Faces - Immersive Characters Overhaul, which I like quite a bit. This mod suggests that you can actually further 'customize' it by adding additional mods that replace skin textures and stuff, so what I've done is add (in listed order):

Pandorable's Serana
Lucien Replacer 2 SE

UNP Female Body Renewal
Tempered Skins for Males - Dressed Version

Tempered Skins for Females

... (several scar/warpaint/eye mods that I've figured out here

Bijin's Warmaidens

... NPCs

... Wives

I am, luckily, having no issues with this install order at all, but I was curious to know how much I can experiment without uninstalling all of the above (and Nordic Faces) in terms of seeing different textures and whatnot from different mods.

As an example:

Am I able to just uncheck Tempered Skins for Fe/Males as well as my Bijin's mods to see what Nordic Faces offers in terms of textures/skin design? Or would I need to uninstall all of these and do a fresh install of Nordic's to see that?

Thank you in advance.

UPDATE:

Wound up having an unexpected couple of hours last night to fiddle about. It appears that, when you install the above mentioned mods in a similar order, you're able to uncheck the more recent ones and it reverts to the older textures. I think this is the case, but I'm not positive. It appears that, when I disabled the Bijin's stuff, Aela did not look like vanilla Aela (close, but touched up).

I'm less sure about the body replacer and texture stuff - it was obvious when I disabled the Men's body replacer that it reverted to (I believe) vanilla - but because I'm using UNP and Tempered Skin it was less obvious to me if disabling Tempered Skin was giving me the UNP body or what.

Thanks!
