Forsworn Briarheart Invisible Torso When Briarheart Removed

This seems to be similar to a problem caused by a conflict between Cloaks of Skyrim and USLEEP for which there was a patch, but I didn't have Cloaks... So I downloaded it and then downloaded the patch. No dice. I then equipped the "briarheartempty" armor to see if the problem was maybe with the path and not the mesh, but it also turned my PC's torso invisible. Thinking it was a corrupted mesh, I deleted the mesh.bsa and verified my game through Steam. Even after the mesh.bsa file, where the briarheartempty armor file is located, was freshly downloaded, I still have the same issue. Removing the briar heart from a briarheart causes them to equip briarheartempy and turn invisible. I've disabled several mods and run the game to see if I could locate a specific mod that was causing the issue, but nothing has corrected the problem. I'm desperate but hoping there is a solution other than deleting everything and re-downloading the entire game over one botched path or corrupted mesh. Update: I've loaded everything into tes5edit, and the only thing that changes the briarheartempty file is USLEEP. It does not, however, change any mesh or texture references; it only changes the armor type to amulet. It makes these same changes to the default briarheart body with which I am currently not having any issues. This further convinces me that the problem is with the mesh as if a texture was missing, I believe it would just be a plain purple mesh appearing on the briarheart. I'm not sure how else the mesh would be affected, though, and, as stated in my first post, I've already deleted and downloaded the Skyrim mesh archive. Any clues to this mystery would be greatly appreciated.
