guczy
I have following problem with FO3. I have the GOTY from Steam which ran w/o problems. I had it on my old computer but it did not run that well, now i got a new rig, with a new HDD but i copied the whole steam folder over to it, of course reinstalled Steam and ran all of my games once so it installs all dependent stuff (although i vaguely remember that i got an error message with one games installation, could be that it was FO3, but could not tell). The vanilla game actually runs w/o problems (although did not get out of the Vault, but in there it has no errors). Now i tried starting it with FOSE with my mods (mod list will follow) and old save game and it starts, even the saved game loads but after moving aroundh for a few secs the game freezes. No error message no nothing, screen freezes, can ony be closed via Task Manager. I played around with the load order and i gotten to a point where i thought that it is fine, as i got out of Megaton and been playing for a few minutes. Then i started walking toward the ruined city and ran into a Protectron. I shot him a few times with VATS, then wanted to finish it off via manually shooting, but when zooming in the game froze again. Reloaded my game after closing / opening the game again and started walking towards the Protectron again. The game freezes every time, a little bit after it shows up as red on the compass (does not matter if i actually see him or not). Played aroudn with the mod order again but no luck, i think i actually made it worse. So i would really appreciate any help with the mod order or with tips how i could fix my game. Could be that the issue has nothing to do with the mod order, but i think i does, as changing the mod order affects when the freeze occurs. So my mods and current mod order is as follows in the attached picture(im not actually sure that everything was enabled on my old computer, should have saved the mod order, dumb me)
prensa
guczy - Hello!Sounds like the Fallout 3 multi core bug.Fallout 3 has trouble with multi core computers, mainly with ones that have more than two cores & use hyperthreading. There is a fix, you need to edit your Fallout 3 .ini file. The one you want to change is:For XP:My Documents\My Games\Fallout3\For Vista & Win7:Documents\My Games\Fallout3The file you want will be called:FALLOUT.iniOpen the .ini with Notepad & change this line:bUseThreadedAI=0to:bUseThreadedAI=1& insert this line under it:iNumHWThreads=2Save & close your ini. That will completely fix the freezing problem.Hope this helps!Prensa
