SKSE causing unknown problems with SSE

Only SkyUI enabled is not what I asked. Do you have any other mods installed?

You are about at the point of click Purge on your mods page and have Steam validate your game.

Look in your game data directory and make sure no traces of other mods are there. No NMM or manually installed mods.

Then Deploy again to activate SkyUI.

Alright, firstly yes I have other mods installed but none enabled. I clicked purge on the mods page and validated my game. I checked the data directory and the only things i found were from SKSE64. Some things from Vortex showed up after I redeployed the mods. I reactivated SKSE and SkyUi and again it failed to open from both the directory and from Vortex.

OK we have another possibility. SkyUI 5.2 SE requires Skyrim SE 1.5.97, and works only with that version.

What version of Skyrim SE are you running?

And - Punt...

I think you will have better luck asking for help here:

Your problem does not seem to be related to Vortex, and the SkyUI folks are more familiar with your specific problem.

If you start your game from Steam while online, you are at 1.5.97. That is the current build.

If you were able to start Skyrim SE and hit esc, that brings up MCM (part of SkyUI), and the Skyrim build number and the SKSE version is in the bottom of that window.

Not that that does you any good...

Look at the SkyUI support link I gave you. On the second page of posts, there is a long post on how to get SkyUI running.

When you do - eventually - get it running - come back and tell us what the problem was.

Make sure you're installing the Se version of Skyui and that all of its dependencies have been installed first.

Im new to modding so I'm not 100% sure what it's dependencies are, but I know it needs SKSE which I have and I do have the SE version of SkyUi

"dependencies" are the mods required by another mod to be installed in order for them to work. They're usually listed in the requirements tab for a mod.

SkyUI has no listed dependencies, other than SKSE64. And even if that is missing - Skyrim SE does not crash. SkyUI just puts up a message box, complaining.
