Issues with new NPC using facetints (NPC ignoring facetint)

As per title, I have created a new NPC, which is a clone of my player character which can be summoned for fun and frolics - however for whatever reason the summoned me appears without using the facetint generated - i.e. plain. I've looked in the NIF file for the head and the link is correct to the face tint file which also appears fine in GIMP, however for some reason Skyrim won't generate the summoned me using the associated facetint.. Argh.

Anyone else ran into this issue and found a solution?

Cheers,

TS

P.S Since I have managed to create working NPCs with facentints previously decided to look to see if I could spot any differences, and noticed that the facetint I am trying to use is 2048x2048 rather than the 256x256 that were previously generated (and worked in earlier mods) - so will see if this makes a difference (i.e. scale down to 256 and see if it works)...

P.P.S Nope, does not look like it :o(

P.P.P.S - found something interesting - if your character is a vampire then the mesh is saved as femalehead.dds and points towards femalehead.dds textures, however it only works if you manually amend the NIF to point to the femaleheadvampire.dds instead - cooo. Still wont use the facetints however so worked around that via some texture manipulation in GIMP to combine the femaleheadvampire.dds with a merge of the facetint dds file via layering to get the effect I wanted - so basically a manual workaround to a problem that is still unresolved. Anyhoo thought someone in times to come might find my discoveries useful so posted em here...
