NifSkope on Vista 64bit crashes

NifSkope on my 64bit Vista Ultimate instantly crashes when I start it. It just hangs at the window without even opening anything, and I need to end the process through Task Manager. This happens with the newest (1.0.18b) version of nifskope as well as any older version. Anyone else experiencing this? Any fix?

(Now you may be wondering why I'm using Vista (bad) x64 (worse), but it's because I have 10gb of RAM and XP obviously is not 64bit and can't support that)

It's your PC, not Windows. I'm also running Vista Ultimate x64, and NifSkope seems to work fine for me. When I downloaded "the latest version" though, it seemed think that the version was 1.0.17. I'm not sure where you got your version from. There seem to be many versions floating around. (By the way, Windows XP DOES support more RAM. Like Vista though, you just need to get the x64 version of it. However, the driver support in XP64 is terrible, so Vista has been much better for me.)

You should disable UAC (User Account Control) and should always log in as Administrator or at least run the applications as Administrator using Right click -> Run as administrator. This helps a lot to run programs flawlessly under Vista. No matter if it is x86 or x64. I run Windows Vista Ultimate SP1 x64 with UAC disabled and as Administrator and all runs fine for me.

I am running as administrator, all the time. Just as a test I installed Windows XP on a separate partition, and NifSkope ran fine. So it's not my computer (which I can assure your is very high end) - it's definitely something to do with Vista. Running it in compatibility mode (as per usual) didn't help at all.

Edit: Huh. It will run in 256bit color mode... but that's nasty looking. I guess it'll do for now.
