skytbest
So I'm looking to play Morrowind on a machine with netbook-like specs. They are enough to run vanilla Morrowind just fine. What I'm wondering is this: what kind of performance impact will retexture and bump-map mods have? I remember playing Skyrim and modding the crap out of it (mainly texture stuff) and hardly seeing a performance hit. So theoretically should I see consistent performance with texture mods on Morrowind? Thanks!
IanBitterss
Well I play on my laptop, with a integrated HD graphics card, which totally sucks. I have some FPS issues but only when my draw distance is too high. I've have made plenty of huge textures for objects and terrain, and really from what I can tell rendering mass amounts of objects and effects has larger impact then too much texture. Doesn't hurt to test it out
RubberMan01
Onboard stuff takes a hit but if you got a reasonable desktop with quality cards you can run it easily. I usually run it while modding so have a lot of background programmes also and never feel the pain. I've even run Skyrim at the same time with a couple of meshing programs, TESC and NIFSkope open to and not had a problem. Alienware FTW!
Drullo321
It depends on what you want to achieve. For example in Skyrim with replacers and stuff I easily hit the 2GB vram my VGA has. But in morrowind even with tons of replacers there isn't much of a change, no wonder, texture resolutions are very small. I guess, even with netbook hardware (as long as MW vanilla is playable) you can load alot of texture replacers. On the other side, things the MGE (XE) would be out of reach, usually they cost a lot of ressources.
