thebigba
that guide you posted the link too is way too complicated for me, I simply don't understand it. It is very detailed and indepth about many details but it does not explain the basic steps and expects you to know how to do them. However, I don't. Again, what I want to do is create omods out of all the damn different files/mods/patches in order to install them. It seems that is different from what the guide tells me. Furthermore, the guide just says "install xxx". However, I don't know how... I would very much appreciate it if anyone who has experience with omods, FCOM and installing it to help me via msn as it is too complicated on the forum. Here is my current problem again: (copy pasted from above): 1) One omod consisting of OOO+OOO patch 1.34, no changes, nothing 2) One omod consisting of MMM 3.5.5, I chose some optional add-on stuff but did not change anything else 3) One omod consisting of MMM 3.5.5 Beta 5, nothing else done with it 4) One omod consisting of MMM 3.6 Beta 3, nothing else done with it 5) One omod consisting of Fran's main package (d/l link: http://www.elricm.com/nuke/html/modules.ph...s&lid=3855) HOWEVER I do not know how to create an omod out of Fran's add-on part (which is necessary for FCOM) as it consists of a .BSA file which cannot be found by OBMM (I tried to press "add folder" but the BSA folder was not found). So what can I do? I also tried adding it manually via bethesda\oblivion\obmm\mods but it didnt show up in OBMM afterwards. What do I do with the BSA file from Fran? Where do I go after having omod'ed all of MMM and OOO? ok firstly to install an omod just double click it and obmm will open , a window my pop up telling you about conflicts is you want to see the message popups about conflicts click yes otherwise click no. Most time after you install the Omos it will automatically activate itself, sometimes it wont. in obmm in the left list if an item there has a blue box that means it is activated. if it is green that means it is installed but not activated, if it is red then it is not installed. now, Using Obmm while it is open, you can create omods out of existing archives as long as they have omod convergence data with the contents of the archive. what you do is1 open obmm2 click on create at the bottom of the obmm window3 in the new window that pops up click add archive4 locate the omod ready archive and load it into this5 click create omod at the bottom of the create window and then it should automatically load it into obmm after that all omod once double clicked aare installed and the only thing you may need to do is make sure all the ones you want activated have a blue box beside them now to install mods that are not omods or not omod ready if there is a data folder you can drag or copy and past it to the C;\program files\bethesda softworks\ oblivion folder if that is where you have oblivion installed to the .esp and .esm go into the c:\ program files\bethesda softworks\oblivion\data folder as well as any meshes folder, tectures folder and sound folder additionally if a mod only comes with files and not folders... all .dds files go into the textures folderall .nif files go into the meshes folderall .mp3 files go into the shound folder all of these folder are in the oblivion\data folder. Thats the best I can help you with at this point.
thebigba
about the .bsa file that cannot be found by obmm. the only way I can see to fix this is uninstall and then reinstall obmm when you first install Obmm it asks if you want to assosciate .bsa files with obmm click yes. I dont see anyway in obmm to change this after , so just uninstall it and reinstall it and thenm click yes to associate .bsa and then you can use obmm to make an omod with it. Xaphys
Ok, thanks a LOT for the help (also gave you some kudos despite not knowing exactly what it means :P)! This is really what I needed, a basic overview about everything, where to put what etc. Just a few more questions: 1) What exactly do I do with the FCOM file? I downloaded the zip file (0.9.9 beta one) and unzipped to a temp folder and it consisted of a texture, meshes and some esp and esm files. Can I just omod the whole package and it will work fine? 2) As I said above, I installed the main package of Fran's mod and the add-on thing (both necessary) into a temp folder. Then I omod'ed the main part only which I think might be wrong. However, in OBMM, all 6 necessary files appear [the ones which the Cheat Sheet talks about] - including the add-on file, despite me not having omod'ed it. The add-on file is in BSA format but I can extract itn and will get a meshes and a texture folder. Do I have to put those into my bethesda\oblivion\data folder? Or should I be fine? 3) How do I know that everything was installed properly? Via Wrye Bash?

Via Wrye Bash? 1. put all the fcom files in the data folder oblivion\data the meshes Folder, the tectures folder and the esp and esm all go in the data folder. 2. if you created the omod and everything installed then it should have been done correctly, the extra files for the addon if you extract them then yes you can manually place them in the oblivion\data folder 3. trial and error :-) if all the programs run smoothly together then you will know that you have installed them all correctly. keep in mind the load order you will need for the programs to all work together the load order you can learn about by reading this http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Oblivion_Mods_FAQ#Setting_the_Load_Order good luck, like bben say's even people who are experienced with mods have trouble gettting thses ones to work the first time :-)
Xaphys
does anyone know whether the Cheat Bob's Armory.esp file is needed for anything? It is in Bob's armory data folder so if you install the data folder by putting it into the main oblivion category the cheat.esp thingie is installed, too. However, it isn't mentioned in the cheat sheet and does not appear on the load order (both basic and extended) pages. Should I remove it? Or is it needed for something? thebigba
I am guessing so far the installation went smoothly and everything appears to be working correctly :-) else you would have already posted back about issues?
Xaphys
Indeed, it's working beautifully :) It's amazing to get totally destroyed by random people and all! Just today I saw two boars killing a mountain lion (or something similar?) and then fight each other, until I came along and killed them both. Later on, I was on the way to Chorrol (via the road from the IC) and noticed a goblin on the road ahead so I tried to avoid him by going through the forrest. BAD idea I tell you, 2-3 more goblins and some other totally weird creatures waiting for me there - I only escaped barely, running to the weynon priory (sp?) and letting those battle monks finish all of that scum for me :P The day wasn't really a good one for me, when I wanted to go into one of those aiyelid ruins I suddenly met like 5 bandits or so in there and only won by constantly running away, combining bow/arrow, sword/shield and magic. Not to mention that I shot those big "club" thingies (the traps, hanging from the ceiling etc) with my arrows, making them swing at the bandits and killing them. In some other ruins, I met some Imps but killed them comfortably. When I reached the last chamber, I realized how lucky I had been - there lay a (luckily) dead MASSIVE shadow wolf (new too, right?) surrounded by the corpses of like 8 imps... On the way to bruma (thieves guild quest) I met a group of 3 bandits and one of them was some kind of mage. She had zero armor and no weapons - however, she went lighting-palpatine style on me and killed me in like 4 shots - WTF. I had to reload and walk a completely different route to avoid her. Later on the path I met a storm imp (new right? From MMM?) and simply couldn't win, despite arrows+fireballs as it 4-5 hit me as well so I had to reload and avoid it too. So yeah, I'm having a great time. And I'm still level 1....
