RogueBase
Just downloaded and installed Origin and am trying to play thru it & save my disc's. But it reports that I have too many Save files, is it safe to delete saves and from what point onward? Oh, and I also noticed that when playing thru Orgin, I can't use the Console Commands, am I missing something? Thanks in advance.......
Thandal
(Two different questions, should have been two separate topics.) Answer to the first is: "If you just want to keep your characters, it's safe to delete all but the most recent save for any/all of them. Beyond that, it's up to you." Answer to the second is: "Google is your friend." The Command Console works with every single install of DA:O on any flavor of Windows. Every. Single. One. If it's not working for you, you've missed/messed-up a step.
RogueBase
"If it's not working for you, you've missed/messed-up a step." No, it does work for me 'except' when I load the game thru the Origin client. If I need to use the console while the game is loaded thru Origin, I have to get out of the game, load my disc, fire it back up, get what I need, then shut down and go back to playing thru the Origin client. Does that make a little more sense?
Thandal
Correct. Enabling the Developer Console is something that has to be done at game start-up. (Without enabling it first, you can't suddenly decide whist playing that it'd be nice to have a little more gold dropped into your pockets and type a runscript! ;D ) The way the Origin client launches the game does not have a mechanism for modifying the start-up parameters, so the Console isn't accessible when you go that route. (NOTE: The Console disables any on-line connection anyway, so even if you could get it working through the Origin client the game wouldn't commuicate with the EA servers.) Only way is through a desktop shortcut or, (I guess) the raw command line statement:\<program path>\daorigins.exe -enabledeveloperconsole
