Baelkin
I'm currently going through the stages of compiling a new model in NifSkope consisting of 11 different NiTriStrips nodes and I've run into a bit of a problem when adding multiple branches to an already existing item. While NifSkope allows me to add a single branch to an existing model by using the "Copy/Paste Branch" method and then overwriting the NiTriStipsData block on this new clone branch with data from my own model, it causes some difficulty on subsequent branches - while I can add more branches fine this way in NifSkope, and even get the full model to show up in the GECK correcty after saving, I cannot open the saved .nif file again, without encountering a fatal error making NifSkope completely crash. So I was wondering if anyone could give me some pointers as to what's wrong with my approach? I can't really tell what's causing the error as NifSKope freezes up before I can read the initial entries of the error log, so I'm out pretty deep on this issue as I'm still learning the ins and outs of NifSkope (beyond replacing NiTriStrips, changing textures and other "basic" stuff). As for just finding an existing model with the number of branches I need, I don't think one exists and I'd rather not complete the project rather than compromise with the quality of the final result. :D
deliverance6
as far as i know, its a case of importing the existing mesh into 3dsMax/blender/maya. Replacing the parts you need/adding to it.And then Exporting it from 3dsMax/Blender/maya. i had the same problems just editing the .nif files, seems to fix on a re-export though

Edit: Meh, no luck mucking about with it yet. Either the GECK crashes when trying to open the preview, or the .Nif becomes bitchy. Looks more and more like I'll need to make a collapsed mesh of the item rather than using an elegant NifSkope solution. Edit2: This is starting to freak me out. After spending all morning trying to get this damn thing to work, with the GECK crashing left and right, I re-installed the latest version of NifSkope and for now my initial approach seems to work like it's supposed to. Copying branches and replacing the NiTriStrip works like a charm now, so I have no idea what was wrong earlier. Perhaps my computer was a bit morning cranky. :starwars:
