Is toleration a human trait or political concept?

I think of tolerance as already being very limited. Tolerating someone is only putting up with them, it isn't actually listening to their point of view, it isn't condoning their behavior, it certainly isn't understanding, tolerance just means that you're going to go ahead and let them go do that thing you already disagree with adamantly but you're not going to be all stupid and yell-y about it.

 

So when the limit of this very finite tolerance is inevitably reached, of course it all comes down rather quickly.
