Maybe a bit overambitious but what the hey

So, in X-COM: enemy unkown you start using the aliens technology against them, advanced weaponry, advanced protection, advanced fighter jets and eventually even psychic power, and while this was really cool and all I'm not sure I like the really small chance of someone having psionnic talents (my best troopers almost never get back from the psionics-test with good news :( ). But then I realised that my scientists have overlooked one vital thing at the enemy's disposal: cybernetics!

Yeah, it never occurs to anyone in this game (that, mind you, is about improving and advancing the human race to face alien threats) to mechanically improve their soldiers' physical capabilities. A runner-up to psionic talent could be cybernetic augmentations, run faster, withstand more damage, dodge more fire and even fly with mechanical limbs, use targeting computers in your brain to improve aim and so on.

There must've been other's who thought about this as well or is everyone cyborged-out after Human Revolution?

Maybe there's a way to make it possible: replacing psy abilities with "cyborg-like" abilities in the perk manager function, such as will to survive, sprinter, telekinetic field (maybe with another name) , or what you like the most, then make the psi testing only allows for1 unit at a time and make it takes like 30 or 60 days to "assemble" the unit, and maybe giving 100% chance of success. It could make sense to change research dependency for the psitesting room as well. So far all this has been done, although I don't know how would that affect psy XP, and of course it would come at the cost of loosing the psy theme. It'd be so cool if there were a small chance for the unit to die in the process, but that would involve rescripting.... as for the flying ability, as far as I know, it's related to the armor, at least for player units, altough this could be taken into your advantadge, since there's already the psy armor that could be worn only by cyborgs, you could give that armor the flying ability, thus freeing archangel armor for other uses

I have actually no idea about what you can and cannot do with mods in this game, but judging from what you just said it doesn't sound like a lot. Much like Sid Meier's Pirates!, awesome game but little in the way of modding.

Oh well, here's hoping someone picks up on this idea and runs with it.
